A simple way to make Easter Egg Hunt Treasure Map
To make an Easter Egg Hunt treasure map you will need:
Paper (about A4 sized)A cold cup of tea (without milk)Paint brushMatches, a lighter or a candlePens, pencils, crayonsRibbon
First of all you need to make the Easter Egg Hunt Map look as though it’s hundreds of years old and has been passed down from bounty hunter to bounty hunter. To do this you need to stain the paper with tea to give it an aged look. All you need to do is give the paper a wash with the cold tea, using the paint brush, and then allow it to dry. The best way to dry the paper is to peg it out on a washing line.
When dry you can make your Easter Egg Hunt Map look even more tattered by singeing the edges - giving it a ragged appearance. Be careful when doing this that the whole thing doesn’t go up in flames. The best way to do this is carefully hold each of the edges of the paper over a small flame until they start to singe or catch fire. Then quickly blow out any flames so you have a tatty, singed edge.
Alternatively you could just tear the edges of the map to give it a ragged look.
You could also burn or cut a few holes in your Easter Egg Hunt Map to give it an authentic look.
Next you need to draw the map of where you plan to hide your Easter Eggs. Draw a rough outline of the area and then fill it in with more detail. It doesn’t have to be perfect but give a general idea of your home or garden. To make it more fun you could give names to particular areas. “The Lair of the Easter Bunny”, “Egg Man’s Creek”, “The Easter Chick’s Nest”.. Be imaginative and creative in putting your map together.
When your Easter Egg Hunt Maps are ready you then need to hide your eggs and mark the map with a cross (or an egg) to show where they are hidden.
The finishing touch for your Easter Egg Hunt Map is to roll it up and seal it. You can either tie it with a length of ribbon, or seal it with wax. To seal it with wax, light a candle and then drip the hot wax onto the map. You could even make your own seal to press into the wax by cutting a shape into a small potato and pressing it into the wax before it’s cold.
Your maps are now ready for the Easter Egg Hunters. Happy hunting.
