April Fools day in France

In France and former french Colonies,the first day of April is known as "Poisson d'Avril". The translation of this is "April Fish". Children tape paper fish to their friends' backs. My class were told about this in school, but because it was April Fools day we thought our teacher was trying to play a joke on us so we refused to believe him.
