When is Yom Ha’atzmaut?

Observing Jews celebrate Yom Ha'atzmaut on the 5th day of Iyar in the Hebrew calendar. This date marks the anniversary of the day Israel independence was proclaimed by David Ben-Gurion who publicly read the Israeli Declaration of Independence on 14 May 1948 (in the Gregorian Calendar).
